Vortex Jacket, 2017

Machine Apparel

For three years, my independent clothing brand, Machine Apparel designed for women who value a modern, minimal aesthetic but still craved a touch of hard edge and attitude. My goal was to create thoughtfully designed garments produced in small batches locally in my own studio.

As both owner and designer, my responsibilities focused on all aspects of product development; from designs, patternmaking, and prototypes, to flats, tech packs, and production sewing. I was also responsible for project management, marketing, and costing.

Machine Apparel was a direct-to-consumer online business, that also sold pieces in Portland retail shops including Folly and Backtalk
